Welcome to Financially Fit Mama!
I’m Carolyn and I’m so happy that you’re here. I want this to be a place where you can find useful information to help balance your finances, fitness, and family.
I used to work in the retail banking world and as an investment adviser to retail clients before leaving the corporate world and joining the Peace Corps in Guatemala. While in the Peace Corps, I helped create business plans, cost analyses, marketing materials, nutrition classes, and more for the community-based soy association where I lived.
I fell in love with Guatemala!
And with an incredible man.
We got married in 2014 and now have two fantastic children who keep me on my toes and make sure we keep our sense of humor!
As a former athlete, I’ve always been interested in fitness and staying active, but after college, I gained a lot of weight and tipped the scales at 226 pounds the day before leaving for Guatemala. Once in Guatemala, I lost the equivalent of a healthy fifth-grader (80 pounds!) and found that my body craved the natural, non-processed foods that I was eating.
Now, with a full-time job at an amazing international nonprofit and two children, I find that finding a balance for all of the important things in life is not always easy. So, I started this blog to help us all make sure that we can strike the balance between healthy finances, fitness, and taking care of our families. Let’s do it together!
